The “self-administration” officially announced by Tal Abyad’s co-chairs, Nasour Salloum and Laila Mustafa,

formally accepted by a majority vote, Kurdistan Street – Baran Muhammad / The Council of Elders of “Gire Spi” in Tal Abyad is connected to the Kobani Canton as the ” Democratic Autonomous Administration” project is formally approved. In front of a delegation from the Kobani Canton and another from Ras al-Ain, the Council gave confidence to the two co-chairs of the administration in the area as well as the heads of nine committees in a meeting held today in the Rural Revival Center.

By a majority of its members, the council chose Mr. Nassour Salloum from the Arab component and Ms. Laila Mustafa from the Kurdish component to co-chairs of the autonomous government in “Gire Spi,” Tal Abyad. Starting with Farhad Dirk, a member of the executive body of the Democratic Society Movement, Sheikh Hamad Sheikh Shahada, a member of the Brotherhood and Civil Peace Council in Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain); Khaled Barkal, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council in Kobani Canton; and Shervan Dorish, the media spokesman for the Euphrates Volcano Operations Room, spoke during the conference. The remarks mostly underlined the need of the independent government and its institutions for the growth and benefit of the society.

25 new members were added to the Council of Elders in “Gire Spi” in Tel Abyad during the conference, therefore increasing the overall number of council members to around 130, representing Arabs, Kurds, Turkmen, and Armenians.
