Kurdistan Street – Ziwa Maho / The Secretary-General of the Kurdish Democratic Party said at the beginning of his talk to the Kurdistan Street News Network in a special interview conducted with the network’s correspondent that the political parties that “respect themselves” are against political arrests, but the arrests in the recent period were not “according to him” based on political rivalry, citing that there are political forces operating officially and publicly in what he called “Rojava” despite their opposition to the autonomous administration and against it, represented by the “Progressive” Party, which has many criticisms of the administration and the Kurdish National Council, which “claims,” according to him, that it has detainees, and here are their leaders at the first level working in Qamishli without being arrested.
There is another “indictment,” Sheikh Baqi underlined, many leaders are against the government and political opponent and are not jailed; rather, those who were arrested for particular causes and issues were forwarded to the court.
” against them other than dissenting opinion, pointing out that there is no law or social contract in the autonomous administration that holds accountable those who dissent, noting also that “their higher-ranking comrades” are in Qamishli and working freely, pointing out that the issue is not a difference of political opinion, adding that for several days there has been a “unlicensed” act, which is a hunger strike, and no one approached or bothered them, adding that they respect differences of opinion and political disagreement, but they are certainly keen on the security of “Rojava” and the work of the administration.
Regarding whether political arrests give a negative image, he confirmed that they do not, considering that the issue of claiming political arrest is “empty” and that the world knows that there is a political dispute, explaining that if they could find solutions for it, it would serve them more and this is in their true interest, pointing out that they have documents confirming that there are no political arrests, as the world and even their friends complain about the failure to reach a solution to these disputes, and that in the recent period, as he put it, “they sought” a solution and simply told them “that you accuse us of relying on the regime and we accuse you of relying on Turkey, and let us say we were with the regime and now we have left.
” “Leave it and we will leave the regime, so let us reach an understanding in Qamishli, leave Dohuk, Erbil and others, because here you are with your leaders and we are present in Qamishli, so let us reach an understanding in Turkey,” he said, adding what the government did by bombing them with aircraft. “Leave it and we will reach an understanding in Qamishli, leave Dohuk, Erbil and others, because here you are with your leaders and we are present in Qamishli, so let us reach an understanding in Turkey,” he said, calling for As he said, they should not agree or attempt to limit the understandings by unacceptable problems.
The Kurdish leader pointed out that the Kurdish issue imposed itself thanks to the sacrifices and blood of the “martyrs” during the past years of the Syrian crisis as an effective force in the fight against terrorism, and as “the owner of a just cause and a factor of balance and stability” in the region, noting that therefore tampering with this issue creates more issues in the region; therefore, those keen on balance in the region will not touch the Kurdish issue, and through the visit of the People’s Protection Units’ representative and the head of the Democratic Party and their reception at the level of the President of the French Republic and his approval of a representative for the Autonomous Administration in the heart of the French capital, considering that it is “normal” for a country with such positions to be careful not to touch the Kurdish issue, considering that in one way or another, France’s view is that Turkey, by taking such a step, is playing a negative role, so it is “warning.”
Regarding the Russian-American agreement, Sheikh Baqi said that although there is a lot of discussion about “undisclosed” clauses in this agreement, rather the clauses that have been announced are being handled “positively,” as they open the path for very significant humanitarian issues including protecting civilians, offering relief, preparing the security environment for dialogue, and resuming negotiations for a political solution. As he indicated, certain officials connected with the Autonomous Administration have also declared their favorable stance against the American-Russian agreement; they consider it as a good start.
About the Democratic Party’s visit to the Hmeimim base, the Secretary General said he had no knowledge about it and learned the news from the media. He clarified that he would not be entitled to make any remarks regarding it even if he had visited the base and they had met there as the media reported.
Jamal Sheikh Baqi, the Kurdish Democratic Party’s Secretary-General, said at the end of the dialogue the autonomous government and the federal project in northern Syria are in a position of strength, and some parties responsible for this project have sought to open new pages to unite the Kurdish ranks, regretting that despite the failures of the other party and the failure of its projects, it is stubborn in remaining “in its trench,” and this is against the project of autonomous administration and federalism in the North.
He added that “the ball” is not with them, as they did what they could and succeeded to a large extent, as they imposed the Kurdish situation on the international level, and that they are confident of success and no one predicts that the future will be complicated, and that they have self-confidence and are preparing everything necessary for success, but the “brothers” on the other side, according to his understanding, must acknowledge their “failure,” review themselves, and start again in the unity of the Kurdish ranks, according to his analysis.
