Information coming from Syrian Kurdistan shows the intention of the Turkish army and its allies to storm the Afrin region, or impose a suffocating siege on it, in order to eradicate the PYD party, the Syrian branch of the PKK, which has seized the political and military decision-making of the Syrian Kurds, and at the same time worked to incite and increase the hotspots of tension with the surroundings of the city of Afrin.
On the other hand, harassment of citizens by the shabiha of the cities of Nubl and Zahraa has escalated following their interests conflicted with the recent changes in the policies of the agency’s authorities against the backdrop of the battles for Raqqa and the distribution of influence and spoils.
Based on the above information, and out of responsibility, concern and fear for our people in the city of Afrin, we remind everyone that the PYD was and still is just a pressure card in the hands of the Syrian regime, which it brandishes in the face of neighboring countries to consolidate its projects aimed at portraying the Kurds as part of the sectarian game sweeping the region through wars and the roles assigned to it to fight battles here and there, which creates an image that does not express the essence of the just Kurdish cause, which is based on justice, dignity and freedom, and at the same time strengthens the prestige of the regime once again as a regional player.
Since they are really mere captives suffering under the force of iron and fire, not to relate them to the deeds and morals of the PYD; instead, we ask everyone not to pressure citizens in Afrin and to neutralize them in the fight. Instead, we should relate to them and look for cheap means of preservation considering the following points that support the cause of the Syrian people on the one hand and assist in eliminating the effects of the agency authorities’ policies on the other.
1. Working to turn over DHCP soldiers to their people from the Arab towns they occupied in the Azaz countryside.
Preserving the interests and lives of people, 2-forming civilian and military committees from the people of Afrin to oversee and coordinate how to eject PKK fighters arriving in the area with minimum losses.
3- The government should not interfere in the affairs of the city of Afrin and should allow its residents to manage their own future, enabling them to counter the justifications and arguments of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party.
4. The role of foreign human rights and humanitarian groups is being utilised to exert pressure on this party through the use of foreign funds and supporters.
